Crusaders Do Battle With No. 23 Warriors

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna Crusaders Women's Basketball Team (9-8, 5-6) returned home to face the No. 23 Indiana Tech Warriors (14-3, 11-0) in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup. After a close first half, the Crusaders would fall to the Warriors 88-61

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the first half the Crusaders came out with a lot of energy looking to beat the first ranked WHAC opponent and 23rd in the country Indiana Tech Warriors. After the first quarter the Crusaders were tied at 18 a piece shooting 70% from the field and 60% from three led by Ashley Kopacko and Aaliyah McQueen who combined for 16 of the Crusaders 18 first quarter points with 8 a piece. Heading into the second quarter the Crusaders were able to hang around with the Warriors by getting themselves to the free throw line and continuing their hot shooting to head into halftime down 35-32.
Coming out of the half the Crusaders looked to keep this a close game and come out with a huge upset over No. 23 Indiana Tech but the second half belonged to the Warriors as they would outscore the Crusaders in the third quarter 27-9 as Madonna struggled to buy a basket. The fourth quarter proved to be even again as the Crusaders got hot in the fourth but the deficit was too much to overcome as they fell to the Warriors 88-61.
