LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University women's soccer team hosted the Cleary University Cougars on Wednesday afternoon. The Crusaders came away with the 1-0 victory over the Cougars, improving Madonna's record to 5-3-1 overall and 2-0 in the WHAC. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders came out looking to carry their offensive momentum from Saturday and finally break the scoring drought at home as the Crusaders had yet to score on their home turf this season. The game consisted of the Crusaders holding a lot of the possession in the first and second half with plenty of opportunities to score. The Crusaders were finally able to break the drought early in the second half at the 48th minute off the foot of Karina Arnold after the ball had been knocked around in front of the net after a Crusader free kick. The Crusaders defense was able to shut down the Cougar offense keeping them out of Crusader territory and holding them to two shots the entire game which were both in the first half. Thanks to a shutdown defense and Arnold's second goal of the season the Crusaders would take home the 1-0 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• The Crusaders outshot the Cougars 16-2.
• The Crusaders had 5 corners to the Cougars 0.
• Arnold led the team in shots with 4 with 3 being on net and had the only goal of the game.
