Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | Kellen Burke

Women's Lacrosse Falls At Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Following a hectic journey down to Kentucky in which their bus was delayed due to bad weather, the Crusaders finally arrived in Williamsburg for the first game of their spring break trip against the Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands. The Crusaders fought hard until the end, but the Patriots would come out on top 23-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders would strike first as Lilly McKee would score off of a Patriots turnover. However, this would be the only bright spot early for the Crusaders as the Patriots would go on to score 12 unanswered. Midway through the second period, Aria Gettel made the first dent in the Crusaders' deficit with a laser to the back of the net off an incredible draw control. Gettel would get her second goal of the afternoon after Sydney Pattinson weaved her way through the Patriot's defense to set her up for it. The half would come to a close as the Crusaders found themselves down 13-3. The Patriots would run away with the victory in the second half, winning 23-3.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Gettel led the team in goals with two and recorded two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
  • Mia Dyson led the team in ground balls and caused turnovers with three of each.
  • Hannah Dickson had six saves at goalie.
