ADRIAN, Mich. - Madonna University men's lacrosse hit the road on Wednesday evening to take on Siena Heights University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest. It was the host Saints who came away with the victory, defeating the shorthanded Crusaders 15-9. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

SHU struck first just 49 seconds into the game with a goal, before going up 2-0 exactly four minutes later. Madonna responded with a goal by Nick Conrad just 14 seconds later to cut the lead in half. The Saints then scored three straight goals to continue holding their lead before Conrad found the back of the net again for his second goal of the night. 

Following two more SHU goals, Kyle Gudme scored for the Crusaders to cut the deficit to just four and keep Madonna in the game. The Saints however scored three straight goals to go into halftime up 10-3. 

Coming out of the half, SHU scored three goals to go up 13-3. Madonna then began making a push by scoring four straight goals including one from Conrad. Also scoring was Vince Floro, Zachary Lane, and Shane Alexander. 

Unfortunately the second half rally was too much to overcome, as SHU escaped with the win. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• Conrad's three goals and one assist led Madonna's offensive attack. 
• Kent Westrick picked up nine ground balls while DeMario Williams recorded six of his own.
• In net, Jeff Varner made 11 saves.

Madonna faces Lourdes University at 4:00 PM Saturday, April 1st from WIldcat Stadium in Sylvania, Ohio.
