UPLAND, In. -- The Madonna University women's basketball team fell 77-65 to Taylor University on Wednesday night. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders were the first to score and take a quick 2-0 lead but it would be all the points the Crusaders would have in the first quarter as they would be down 15-2 at the end of the first. The scoring troubles continued for the Crusaders entering the second quarter as Taylor's lead would grow to 20 before the Crusaders would find scoring with three minutes left in the half which led into halftime with the Crusaders down 35-18  

Going into the second half the Crusaders offense came out hot led by an individual 8-0 run by Delani Robinson that would cut the deficit down to just 9 with 5 minutes left in the third but the Trojans would catch fire again as the third quarter ended with the Crusaders trailing 63-39. Going into the fourth quarter the Crusaders were back and forth in scoring with the Trojans until the two minute mark when Aaliyah McQueen would score nine straight points for the Crusaders to cut it down to 12 but the deficit was too much to overcome as the Crusaders would fall to the Trojans 77-65.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• McQueen would lead the Crusaders in scoring with 17 points and led the team with 7 rebounds
• Kayiona Willis would finish with 15 points and lead in assists with 5
• Dekota Smith would finish with 14 points 4 rebounds and 2 steals

UP NEXT

The Crusaders will have their home opener on Tuesday, November 7th as they take on Grace Christian University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
