No. 4 Wildcats claim victory over Crusaders

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Crusaders headed down to Indiana for their two-game road trip into the Hoosier state. Up first, the No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats. Madonna moved the ball well offensively, headlined by their true freshman running back Glen Jackson who recorded over 100 yards of total offense, but could not find the endzone against one of the top teams in the country. The Wildcats would go on to win 26-0 against the Crusaders.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders came out firing after receiving the opening kick, as freshman running back Glen Jackson exploded with a 30-yard run on the first play of the game, getting the Crusaders into Wildcat territory. However, a costly fumble would halt the opening drive. The Crusaders defense would hold them to a three-and-out, getting the ball back after the Wildcat punt.

The game would continue in a stalemate until the end of the first quarter, as the Wildcats struck first with a score ten minutes into play. While the Crusaders would be stopped on their next drive, a sack by graduate defensive end Tommy Larson forced a Wildcat punt to end the first quarter. The Wildcats led 7-0 after one quarter of play.

The Crusaders would hold the Wildcats to a field goal to start the second quarter, but a blocked punt on the next Crusader drive would lead to a safety, as they jumped ahead 12-0. The Wildcats would score just once more in the first half, making it a 19-0 game at halftime.

The Madonna defense, led by their captain sophomore Will Fennema II, would allow just seven points in the second half. While their defense played stout, the offense was unable to assist them with any points on the board. Crusaders would go down 26-0 against the No. 4 Wildcats.
