Men's Basketball
Last Time Out: The Crusaders fell to visiting Lawrence Tech University on Wednesday, 73-67 in overtime. Madonna found themselves trailing 34-25 at the halftime break, before rallying the second half to take a three-point lead with under 30 seconds remaining, however the Blue Devils converted an and-one to tie things at 59-59 and force overtime. LTU used the momentum to outscore Madonna 14-8 in the overtime period and take the victory.Â
Henry Speight led the Crusaders with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Mark Mettie scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.Â
Scouting Aquinas: The Saints come into the week sitting at 7-9 overall and 4-6 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. Aquinas defeated Cornerstone University 76-74 last Saturday. They have also scored conference wins over UM-Dearborn, LTU, and Siena Heights University. Statistically, the Saints are led by Gabe Overway, who averages 13.5 points per game and has played in every game this season. Other double-digit point scorers include Donovan Brown-Boyd (12.4 PPG) and Menalito McGee (11.2 PPG). Aquinas is led by seventh year head coach Ryan Bertoia.Â
Scouting Indiana Tech: 16th ranked Indiana Tech rolls into the week 15-2 overall and 8-1 in WHAC play, including an 84-71 victory over Madonna earlier this season. The Warriors picked up a 77-71 victory over Concordia University on Saturday. An offensively balanced attack is led by Josh Kline (12.9 PPG) and Rog Stein (12.6 PPG). Indiana Tech also has 2021-22 WHAC Defensive Player of the Year Cory McKinney in their lineup. The Warriors are led by head coach Ted Albert, who is in his sixth season at the school.Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Crusaders are led in scoring by
Henry Speight with 16.1 PPG, while
Brendan Young (15.5 PPG) and
Mark Mettie (15.1 PPG) are close behind. Young is also averaging 9.4 rebounds per game, while Mettie is grabbing 7.2 rebounds per game.
Ethan Emerzian leads the team in assists with 3.1 per game.Â

Women's Basketball:
Last Time Out: Madonna fought hard against Lawrence Tech University, but ultimately fell short as they lost 59-50. The Crusaders stayed close throughout the majority of the game, but couldn't close out the Blue Devils, who finally opened a 10 point lead with under a minute remaining in the game.
Ashley Hill led the Crusaders with 16 points and six rebounds, while Delani Robinson chipped in 10 points and Sophie Ruggles grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Scouting Aquinas: Aquinas enters the week at 7-9 overall and 3-7 in WHAC play, with conference wins over UNOH, LTU, and UM-Dearborn. Aquinas is led in scoring by Isabel Reemsnyder (9.3 PPG) and Mauriya Barnes (9.1 PPG). Another player to watch is JaKarri Alven, who averages 6.9 rebounds per game. Head Coach Brian Morris enters his fourth full season with the Saints after taking over as interim head coach during the 2018-19 campaign.Â
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week ranked 13th in the NAIA with a 14-3 overall record and 8-1 conference record. Indiana Tech cruised to a 78-36 victory over Madonna back on November 12th. Statistically, Erika Foy leads the Warriors with 13.1 PPG and 8.8 RPG. Another player to watch is freshman Taylor Covington, who averages 11 points per contest. Head Coach Jessie Biggs is in her 11th season with Indiana Tech, and is also the athletic director at the school. Â
 INSIDE THE NUMBERS: In four of her last five games,
Ashley Hill has posted double-digit point totals, including 17 against Lourdes University and 16 against Lawrence Tech. She was also the Crusaders leading scorer in a 51-43 win over Judson University on December 13th with 14 points.
Sophie Ruggles has had double-digit rebounding totals for Madonna in two of the last four games. She finished with 13 against Judson and 14 against LTU. In the Crusaders exhibition against NCAA D1 Oakland University, she finished with two blocks and four rebounds.
