Young Dominants with Career High In Blowout Win

LIVONIA, Mich. - Coming off their blowout win against RV Cornerstone University, the Crusaders returned to ACCU Arena for another huge conference matchup versus the Warriors of Rochester University. It turned out to be much of the same for the Crusaders today, blowing out the Warriors 100-68.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Rochester took an early lead in the opening minutes, going up 11-7. That was until an exhilarating slam dunk from Mark Mettie completely flipped the momentum for Madonna. The Crusaders jumped ahead to a 20-15 lead just as the ten-minute mark hit, with 11 of those 20 points coming from Mettie. A series of explosive plays, including a three-point swish from Devin Dunn, helped them continue to pull ahead, extending their lead to 27-17. Brendan Young knocked down a three-pointer of his own to extend the Crusader lead to 13, forcing Rochester to call a timeout to catch their breath. It wouldn't do much for the Warriors though, as Young knocked down another three on the first possession after the break, as ACCU Arena exploded in cheers.

The onslaught by the Crusaders continued as Mettie slapped a Warrior shot away, and then took it down the court for an easy three-point shot. Young continued to dominate the Warriors with 18 points in the first half, including four three-pointers. In the final seconds of the half, Matthew MacLellan would slam a dunk of his own, putting the Crusaders up by a more than comfortable 21 points at halftime. The Crusaders would go into the break up 50-29 as the Warriors would stroll into the locker room with their heads down.

Young was only heating up coming out of the break, knocking down back-to-back three-pointers on the Crusaders' first possessions of the half. Young would splash two more three-pointers before the end of the game, etching his name in the Madonna record books for the second time this season with eight threes made in a game. His record-setting day would carry the Crusaders to a thirty-point blowout win, running the Warriors off the court 100-68.
