Crusaders Pull Away in Home Opener

LIVONIA, Mich. –  The Madonna University's Women's Soccer Team fought hard for a 1-0 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Wednesday evening at the Madonna Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders found themselves in a defensive battle, and was back and forth with the Cougars throughout the first half as it ended in a 0-0 score after one. Then late in the second half Sydnie Voss scored her first goal of the year to put the Crusaders up 1-0 at the 66:48 mark. 

Now down late in the second half, the Cougars would have no answer as the Crusaders would hold on to take home the 1-0 victory.  This victory puts the Crusaders at 3-1 on the year.
   
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Voss and Abby Werthman would lead the team in shots at 4 a piece
  • Both teams would have an equal amount of shots at 11 a piece

The Crusaders will be at home again on Saturday September 10th when they take on Goshen College at 3:00 pm at the Madonna Athletic Complex
