LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over Goshen College on Saturday from The Madonna Athletic Complex. The Crusaders record moves to 4-1 this season following the win over the Maple Leafs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The teams battled both each other and the heat as the first half got underway. Neither Madonna or Goshen was able to find the back of the net in the first half however, and the teams went into the locker room tied at 0-0.

In the second half, Abby Werthman provided the offensive spark the Crusaders needed. She found Holly McManus in the box in the 62nd minute and McManus put the shot past the Maple Leaf keeper to make it 1-0. Later in the 83rd minute, Werthman scored her fourth goal of the season to make it 2-0 and provide insurance for Madonna, who kept Goshen out of the net en route to the victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• Madonna outshot Goshen 10-4.
• Brooke Bruletti made two saves in net for the Crusaders as she posted her second shutout of the week. 
• The Crusaders had seven kicks compared to just two for the Maple Leafs.
