Men 1st, Women 2nd at Lourdes Terracotta Open

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Madonna University cross country teams competed in the Terracotta Open on Friday hosted by Lourdes University. The Crusader men ran to a first place finish with 28 points ahead of four fellow WHAC schools. The women's team earned a second place finish with a team score of 45 points, finishing behind Siena Heights University with 36 points. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Both the men's and women's races were run on a 5k course. 

Lucas Eccleton led the way in the men's race, earning a first place finish with a time of 16:23.59. Behind him was Cameron Kruse in fourth place with a time of 16:52.69. Next for Madonna was Ryan Nicholson in sixth place with a time of 16:58.16. Crossing the line in seventh place right behind Nicholson was Sean Massa in 16:59.64. Completing the scoring in 10th place for the Crusaders was Andrew Langkam in 17:04.59. 

In the women's race, Rose Paoletti took home fourth place with a time of 20:50.16, while Whitney Ricks was right behind in fifth with a time of 20:55.88. Next for Madonna was Jessica Phillips in seventh, crossing the line with a time of 21:18.01. Elizabeth Dancey finished in 14th place for the Crusaders with a time of 21:46.88, while Allison Stowe completed the scoring in 17th place with a time of 22:00.51.

UP NEXT:

The Crusaders will compete in the Lansing Community College Invite on Friday, September 30th from the Grand Woods Park in Lansing, Michigan.
