ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Madonna University women's lacrosse team traveled to take on Siena Heights University (Mich.) on Wednesday evening, dropping the game 11-17. The Crusaders' record falls to 5-4 on the season, 1-4 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders struck first in the first quarter, with an opening goal from Courtney Hoeland. The Saints followed up with four unanswered goals to make it 4-1, before another Hoeland tally closed out the first quarter. Trailing 7-2 in the second, The Crusaders rallied to score three consecutive goals, one each from Taylor Vitori, Sydney Pattinson, and Aria Gettel. Two more goals before halftime from Brittney Leist and Gettel sent the teams into halftime with a 8-7 Madonna deficit.

The Crusaders struggled in the second half, only scoring four goals to the Saints' eight, including Christy Battersby's first goal of the game.

• In her second career start, Riley Fritsche records five saves

The Crusaders are back in action on Saturday, April 9, as they head to Mishawaka, Ind. to take on Bethel College. The game starts at 1:00 PM.
