LIVONIA, Mich .-- The Madonna University men's lacrosse team battled on Wednesday afternoon but fell to Lourdes University (Ohio). The Crusaders' 12-7 loss to the Gray Wolves moved their record to 2-4 on the season, 2-2 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

On a rainy afternoon, defense was showcased in the first quarter, as the quarter ended 1-1, the lone Crusader goal by Nick Conrad. Lourdes had a big second quarter, scoring two goals in the first three minutes before an Ian Rush goal for the Crusaders slowed the momentum. The Gray Wolves added two more goals before the half, to lead 5-2 heading into the break.

In the second half, Lourdes opened with two straight goals before Cole Gingell scored two for the Crusaders. Ian Rush scored the final three goals for the Crusaders, but ultimately the Blue and Gold fell short against the Gray Wolves, losing 12-7.

BY THE NUMBERS:

• Ian Rush led the Crusaders' offense with four goals and one assist
• Jeff Varner saved 14 shots
• Rush picked up ten ground balls, Gingell picked up nine

UP NEXT:

The Crusaders are back on the field Saturday, April 9, as they travel to take on No. 10 ranked Lawrence Tech. The game will be played in Southfield, Mich., with the opening face-off set for 6:00 PM.
