RV Crusaders Blow Out Cleary in Regular Season Finale

 

HOWELL, Mich.-- The Madonna University men's lacrosse team defeated Cleary University (Mich.) on Saturday, in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) matchup. The 26-4 win improved the Crusaders' record to 5-6 on the season, and 5-4 in WHAC play.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders got on the board in a hurry, as Ian Rush scored just 37 seconds into the game. This was the first goal in a string of six unanswered, as Casey Lyons, and Nick Conrad each scored within the next minute and a half. Rush scored another, along with another goal for Conrad and Eddie Dyla. 

 

Madonna shut out the Cougars in the second quarter, outsourcing them 10-0. Nick Bryden, Nathan Amoss and Marco McMann joined the scoring party. James Burbar and Josh Hilton also scored in the second, as the Crusaders took a 17-2 lead into halftime.

 

The Crusaders set a school record within eight seconds in the third quarter, as Collin Allor and McMann both scored man-down goals, breaking the team record for most man-down goals in a game. Josh Hilton and Zachary Lane added goals in the third. Weston Canfield joined the statsheet in the fourth quarter, scoring his first goal of the season.

 

In goal for the Crusaders, Aiden Haver got the win, making five saves. Shane Penzien came in for the second half, saving four shots.

UP NEXT

The Crusaders have qualified for the WHAC Tournament, earning the four seed. They will play Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) on Tuesday, April 26, at 2 PM, in a quarterfinals matchup. As the higher seed, Madonna will host the game at the MU Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
