LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- The Madonna University men's lacrosse team played a strong game against the No. 1 ranked Reinhardt University on Sunday, faltering late to drop the game 14-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
After being shutout 3-0 in the first quarter, the Crusaders came out firing in the second, scoring four goals to go into halftime tied. Madonna would continue their hot shooting in the third quarter, scoring three unanswered.

After trailing to the Crusaders 9-7 shortly into the 4th quarter, Reinhardt went on a run, scoring seven unanswered goals to win the game 14-9.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Ian Rush led the scoring for the Crusaders, netting four goals, also assisting on one goal
• Jeff Varner recorded 19 saves in goal
• Cole Gingell and Kyle Gudme both added two assists

UP NEXT 
The Crusaders open up their home season on Sunday with a home game against Webber International (Fla.) at 1 PM.
