Huge Fourth Quarter Propels Crusaders Past UNOH

LIMA, Ohio -- The Madonna University Women's Basketball team was back on the road Wednesday night as they traveled to Lima, Ohio to take on the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) and the Crusaders used a huge fourth quarter to win 64-44.

HOW IT HAPPENED

April Hudelson got things rolling for the Crusaders as she scored the first two baskets for Madonna. Both teams would struggle on offense as the two shot around 30% for the quarter. Megan Aho would knock down a three with just over a minute left in the period and UNOH would take a 12-9 lead after one. 

In the second quarter, the Crusaders would tie the game up at 15-15 thanks to a triple by Sarah Tanderys. Madonna would find themselves up by four with three minutes left, but would go scoreless the rest of the quarter. UNOH would tie the game up at 25-25 going into the half. 

In the third, Tanderys would knock down two more triples as the Madonna's lead would grow to five. The Crusaders' would go back and forth with UNOH for the remainder of the period and Madonna took a 41-38 lead into the fourth.

This is where things started to get fun for Madonna. The Crusaders would only allow six points in the final period forcing UNOH into 2-15 shooting. On the other side, the Crusaders only missed five shots going 10-15. Aho and Tanderys combined for 13 and three triples and Madonna would pull off the road victory 64-44.

  • Aho would finish with a game high, 20 points and three steals
  • Tanderys would knock down five triples and have 18 points and three steals
  • Hudelson would finish with 14 points and eight rebounds
  • Paige Boden would have five blocks

The Crusaders will be back home at the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena to take on No.17 Indiana Tech on Saturday, February 12. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
