Livonia, Mich. - The Crusaders' men's basketball team was back in action Friday night in a rematch of last years WHAC Tournament final against the Gray Wolves of Lourdes University (Ohio) and the Crusader came out victoruius 84-76.
Friday December 9th Crusaders played at their home court against the Grey Wolves. Madonna capitalized and secured a win, while honoring #30, for the school record for blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pregame, the Crusader honored senior Mark Mettie as he is now the Crusaders' All-Time leader for blocked shots in a career. The Crusaders and Gray Wolves. The Crusaders fought to gain the lead half way through the first half. Ryan Nunn led the Crusaders with nine points in the first half, following Elan Barker who secured five rebounds. Around the twelve minute mark, Madonna capitalized the lead,carrying it through till the end of the half with a six point lead over Lourdes, 39-33.
Entering the second half, Madonna continued to dominate the court over Lourdes. As the half went on, the score stayed in Madonna's favor, but Lourdes put up a good fight to make it neck n' neck with five minutes remaining on the clock. Mettie was the top scoring player with 18 points on the board, following up, Nunn secured 12 points. Constantly Madonna capitalized shooting baskets and securing rebounds. The hard work paid off with a win in Madonna pocket of 84-76.
