LIVONIA, Mich. – The Crusaders' Men's Basketball team was back in action and seeking their fifth straight win as they took on the Maple Leafs of Goshen College (Ind.) and came away with a 96-59 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Maple Leafs kept it close through the first 14 minutes of the game as both teams were trading baskets with one another as the Crusaders led 30-23. The final six minutes of the half Madonna turned their game up a notch as the closed the half on a 21-9 run to lead 51-29 at the break. 

Coming out of the half the Crusaders opened the floodgates, playing stellar defense and executing on offense. Madonna held the Maple Leafs to 2-26 (7.7%) from distance meanwhile, the Crusaders had five players score in double-figures and shot 54% from the field. The Crusaders would cruise past the Maple Leafs 96-59. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Mark Mettie lead the Crusaders with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two assists
• Ethan Emerzian finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and knocked down five threes
• Deric Murray contributed 14 points, three assists and two steals
• Henry Speight had 13 points and five rebounds
• Eian Barker in his first start of the season finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists

The Crusaders will be back in action Thursday, December 29 as they are headed to Illinois for the Roosevelt New Year's Classic as they take on the Lakers of Roosevelt University at 4:00 p.m. EST
