LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University 17th ranked men's soccer team came out with a 5-0 WHAC tournament opening win against Siena Heights on Saturday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders came out with another stellar performance in their 5-0 victory over Siena Heights on Saturday. The Crusaders defense did not allow much for the Saints as they were only able to get off 6 shots in total with only 3 being on goal. Although the Saints defense was able to keep up as well in the first half as the Crusaders were only able to get across one goal from Jordy Lopez assisted by Matthew Rafferty. The Crusaders would go into the half holding the 1-0 lead.

The second half was a much different story for the Crusaders as the offense was able to get hot, scoring 4 goals in the half. The first goal came in the 58th minute off the foot of Wagner Gameiro, his 6th of the year. The next goal would come just over a minute later from Lopez which would end up being his second goal of the day and his 10th of the year.  The next Crusader goal would come in the 75th minute off of a beautiful bicycle goal from Breno Stapcinskas, his second of the year, assisted by Jhonnier Torres. The Crusaders final goal would come in the 89th minute from the automatic goal scorer Keegan O'Callahan, his second of the year, assisted by Stefan Baseski. The boys would walk away with the 5-0 victory and advance to the WHAC tournament semifinal game.

UP NEXT:

Madonna will be back at home for the WHAC tournament semifinal game against Aquinas College on Wednesday, November 9th. Kick-off is set for 2:00 pm.
