Box Score LIVONIA, Mich. - The Crusaders' Men's Basketball Team returned home to Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena where they imposed their will on the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines winning 108-77. The highlight of the win was the performance of sophomore forward
Brendan Young who recorded a double-double while also breaking the Madonna University school record for rebounds in a single game with 20. The previous record was 19, set back in 1993.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams got off to a slow start, no points were scored until the 17:27 minute mark when Dearborn struck first with a three-point bucket. The Wolverines began to take an early lead in the first half as the Crusaders were unable to find any offensive momentum. A few quick points by Deric Murray helped the Crusaders get back in the game. A three pointer by Young 11 minutes into the game finally tied it at 19. Two minutes later a layup from Henry Speight put the Crusaders in front for the first time, and Madonna didn't give up another lead for the rest of the ball game. Going into the half up 40-33.
After a slow first half the Crusaders came out scorching after halftime. In the first eight minutes of the second half, they went on a 27-11 run to crush any hope of a Wolverine comeback. As the Crusaders continued to pull away, Young continued to dominate every inch of the court, scoring 11 points in the second half. Sitting at 19 rebounds with two minutes left in the ball game, the gym went silent as a Dearborn three-point attempt bricked off the rim. The rest of the team watched in awe as Young flew up, snagging the ball and the school record. All of ACCU Arena went wild as the Crusaders dribbled the ball out, securing the 108-77 win.
