LIVONIA, Mich. –  Madonna University's Men's Soccer Team had a tough loss in the WHAC championship game on Saturday afternoon, losing in a shootout 6-5 to Indiana Tech. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders went into a cold and snowy Saturday afternoon looking to walk away with both the regular season and WHAC championship trophies. However, the Warriors were the ones to strike first, taking a 1-0 lead late in the first half. The game would enter halftime with the Warriors up 1-0. 

The Crusaders would need a goal in the second half to tie the game up and Ryota Nakajima would answer, scoring in the 81st minute to tie the game up at 1 a piece and in back to back tournament games, the Crusaders would find themselves heading into overtime. The Crusaders and Warriors would go scoreless in both overtimes and again in back to back games as well the Crusaders would go into penalty kicks for the WHAC Championship.
Entering penalty kicks the Crusaders would shoot second giving them the advantage. Unfortunately, after a couple great saves from the Warriors keeper the Crusaders were unable to pick up the victory and Indiana Tech would win the WHAC Tournament Championship. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Crusaders would outshoot the Warriors 23-20 but match in shots on goal with 6 a piece
• The Crusaders would lead in corner kicks 9-8 

UP NEXT
The Crusaders will return to the pitch on Thursday, November 17th in the NAIA National Tournament. The opponent and location will be announced Monday, November 13th on the NAIA Youtube channel at 1:00 PM EST.
