Crusaders Lose Steam in Second Half to Fall to No. 25 Warriors

LIVONIA, Mich. – The Crusaders' Men's Basketball team was back in action for a matchup against the No.25 ranked Warriors of Indiana Tech and the Crusaders would lose steam in the second half as Madonna fell 84-71.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The entirety of the first half was a back and forth game, and a game of runs nonetheless. Madonna would find themselves up 11-10 thanks to a three-pointer from Mark Mettie. The Warriors would respond with a 28-14 run and the Crusaders would be trailing 38-25 with roughly four minutes to go in the half. That's where things got interesting as the Crusaders would rattle off a 15-0 run to lead 40-38 at the break.

In the second half, it started out more of the same as a back and forth game. With 15:16 remaining Henry Speight made an old-fashioned three-point play to make it a 49-48. After that the warriors would go on a 9-0 to lead 58-48 and would eventually pull away as the Crusaders would fall 84-71.

  • Speight lead the Crusaders with 17 points and five rebounds
  • Deric Murray finished with 14 points, three assists and a block
  • Matthew MacLellan would wrap up the contest with 13 points and four rebounds
