GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Despite a valiant effort from the Madonna University volleyball team, the Crusaders fell 3-1 to top-seeded Cornerstone University in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The host Golden Eagles came out strong by taking the first set 25-18. In set two however the Crusaders responded by winning 25-20. Capped off by a Kira Buza kill and Cornerstone attack error, Madonna earned the set victory.

Unfortunately, the Crusaders were unable to use the momentum going forward as the Golden Eagles took the next two sets via final scores of 25-21 and 25-23.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Molly Miller led the way with 10 kills while Jaeda Porter recorded nine.
Kacie Stoneburner posted 33 assists.
Jamie Ciacico had 18 digs and two service aces.
Ryley Osentoski earned 12 digs and two service aces.
Porter had four blocks while Buza and DJ Sargent had three each.

UP NEXT:

The Crusaders first season under head coach Scott Barbe ends with a 15-13 overall record and 11-9 mark in WHAC play.
