Patton Makes History, Crusaders Down Warriors

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - The Madonna University women's soccer program picked up a 3-1 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory over host Rochester University on Saturday. The win was historic for Crusaders' head coach Paul Patton. It was his 72nd win and makes him the all-time winningest head coach in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game was scoreless until the 42nd minute, when Vitoria Sia found the back of the net to make it 1-0. In the second half, Abby Werthman made it 2-0 off an assist by Olivia Brannon in the 62nd minute. Werthman later added her second goal of the game to make it 3-0 in the 69th minute. Rochester was able to get on the board in the 83rd minute, but the Crusaders cruised to victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 
  • Madonna outshot Rochester 22-10.
  • Brooke Bruletti made one save in goal for the Crusaders.
  • The Warriors took three corner kicks compared to the Crusaders one.
