Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Madonna Crusaders men's soccer team gets their 7th straight win for the first time since the 2018 season against Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids at the Aquinas College Athletic Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The match started off quite slow as both teams felt each other out through the first half and went into halftime with a 0-0 tie. The start of the second half was more of the same, until the 59th minute when the first goal of the game was scored by Andres Gomez Rubiano assisted by Ryota Nakajima. Madonna would then strike again this time with a goal from Ryota Nakajima assisted by Issei Ito to make the score 2-0. Aquinas would then get a goal of their own to make the score 2-1.  But Madonna would deliver the finishing blow in the 89th minute with a goal from Issei Ito and getting his second assist on the day was Ryota Nakajima.  
The Crusaders would walk away with the 3-1 victory and their 7th straight win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Madonna outshot Michigan 23-13.
• The Crusaders took 8 corner kicks. 
• There were 12 total yellow cards on the day- 4 for Madonna and 8 for Aquinas 

UP NEXT:
The Crusaders will be on the road again on Wednesday, October 5th when they face Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
