Crusaders Blank Redhawks in Season Opener

SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- The Madonna University Women's Soccer team posted its second-largest margin of victory in program history on Tuesday with a 14-0 win over Indiana University Northwest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

With no shortages of goal scorers, it took 3:11 for the floodgates to open as Grace Thomas struck one in the back of the net by Abby Werthman before Werthman got a goal of her own about six minutes or so later.

Megan Verant, Abby Viviano, and Holly McManus then scored the next three consecutive goals for a 5-0 edge 23:11 into the match. McManus and Julianne White then found themselves on the stat sheet before Natasha Fecay and Mary Philimona then tacked on two more for a 9-0 lead as Morgan Stack took a goal of her own just before half for a 10-0 margin.

Out of the half, Sydnie Voss found the back of the net at the 63:17 mark as Werthman, Stack, and Thomas sent Madonna home for the first win of the new season.
