SYLVANIA, Ohio. - Â The Madonna University Men's Lacrosse team fell in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Quarterfinal Wednesday night, 12-4 to No. 9 Lourdes University at Wildcat Stadium.
Cole Gingell nailed the first two goals for Madonna, starting in the opening moments with a Marco McMann assist to take an early lead. The Gray Wolves fired back with one of their own before Gingell bagged his second of the game at the 5:04 mark. Lourdes was able to nab one more in the waning minutes for a 2-2 tie after the first.
The Gray Wolves managed to notch two within the first five minutes of the second quarter, followed by another at the 7:29 mark left in the half for a 5-2 lead. One more before the half gave Lourdes the 6-2 edge at the break.
Gingell and McMann connect once more at the midway point of the third quarter to close the gap to three. Lourdes answered right back however, proceeding to score the next five goals in the quarter for a eight goal lead.
In the fourth, the lone Ian Rush goal from Jordan Davis was not able to surmount the Gray Wolves lead with a 12-4 final.
