Aquinas broke the 5-0 run a little over a minute later as Makennah Blackman's goal was wedged in between a barrage of Aquinas shots as the Saints ended the half closing the gap to a 6-5 Madonna advantage.

Leist and Gettel sandwiched an Aquinas score in the opening moments of the second half before Aquinas caught fire, going on a 5-1 run around Gettel's second goal of the half. With 14:33 marked in the game, the Saints held a 11-9 lead.

Rivera and Gettel exchanged goals on a 4-0 Crusaders run before a late Aquinas score, Madonna still with a one goal lead. WIth 1:19 left, the Saints' prayers were answered tying up the game to send the two Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foes to overtime.
