GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Madonna University volleyball team saw its four-game win streak come to an end at the Sturrus Center on Tuesday night in a 3-0 defeat to Aquinas College.

The Crusaders fall to 9-4 overall and 7-4 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Saints move to 16-1 on the season and 9-1 in league play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blue and Gold won the first two points of the match before the Saints scored the next five. Madonna struggled to find a rhythm on offense en route to a 25-19 loss. 

The Crusaders responded by winning five of the first seven points in set two, but the Saints scored 10-of-12 to take a 12-7 advantage. Back-to-back kills from Jodie Kelly and an Olivia Sweeney service ace made it 21-23, but Aquinas scored the final two for the 25-21 final.

Aquinas won 10 of the first 13 points in set three en route to winning the match with a 25-12 set win.

TOP PERFORMERS

• Kelly finished with a match-high 12 kills
• Kacie Stoneburner added 10 kills and two blocks
• Sweeney finished with a team-high 12 digs and three service aces
• Jordyn Dawson led MU with 20 assists

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
.387/.152 - Madonna hit just .152 (33-16-112) while Aquinas hit .387 (49-6-111) 
16 - The Saints had 16 more kills (49-33) than the Crusaders.
