LIVONIA, Mich. -  The Madonna University Men's Lacrosse team dropped its home opener Monday afternoon to number one ranked Reinhardt University (Ga.), 10-6 at the Madonna Athletic Complex. 

The first half remained a tight, defensive battle between both teams early on as just two scores by both squads emerged in the contested heat. Junior Connor Wright got things going for Madonna with a goal coming within the last minute of the first quarter from junior Jordan Davis though the Eagles still led 2-1 at the quarter break.

In the second, it was senior Harry Dyson who scored the lone goal from freshman Teddy White to knot things up 2-2 at the half. 

Reinhardt then began to rack up three-straight scores in the third for a 5-3 lead after a sophomore Marco McMann tally in the opening moments of the second half. In the fourth, it was all Reinhardt as the number one team in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics piled on five more scores for a 10-5 edge before McMann got one in the back of the net with 5:03 to go. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• McMann lead all Crusader scorers with two goals, all other scorers had one
• In goal, freshman Jeff Varner took 18 saves in the loss

• Madonna will stay home for its next date on Sunday, March 14 against Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association member Oakland University (Mich.).
