Popko Earns Back-to-Back WHAC Player of the Week Honors

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for the week of March 15-22, and Madonna University softball junior Kattie Popko was named Player of the Week.

The Macomb native had another big week as she hit .600 (6-for-10) to lead the Crusaders to a 2-1 week, including five hits in a sweep of Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) over the weekend. She recorded a hit and scored or drove in a run in every game. She slugged .800 with two doubles, two runs scored, and four RBI. Her two-run double in game two against CCSJ was the game-winner. 

Popko and the Crusaders will be back in action on Thursday, March 25 at 3 p.m. as they host No. 17 Olivet Nazarene University in a doubleheader. Gates will open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.mucrusaders.com/tickets. Fans can read the most updated fan policy here.
