ROCHESTER, Mich. - Â The Madonna University Men's Basketball team fell 00-00 to Rochester University (Mich.) Saturday afternoon at Garth Pleasant Arena in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Semifinals.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With an opening three ball from senior Henry Speight, it would be the only time Madonna would lead. Senior Noah Campbell and junior Mark Mettie helped the Crusaders crawl back at certain instances of the first half but ultimately were down 19 at half.Â
- The Crusaders were able to pull within at least eight in the second frame but ultimately fell to the Warriors, who advance to the WHAC Championship match.
TURNING POINT
- The Warriors' decisive 46-27 halftime lead.Â
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Speight was the only Crusader above the 20-point barrier with 22 on the day while Mettie was close with 19.Â
- Mettie was once again the team's leading rebounder on the afternoon with nine. Umfress and Speight each tallied six apiece.Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- 62.5%: The Crusaders' second half shooting improved from the first, shooting 15-24 from the field for 62.5% led by both Mettie and Speight
- 80%: Madonna shot 8-10 from the free throw line, continuing the trend of excellent free throw shooting
