LIVONIA, Mich.-- The Madonna University competitive dance team posted two of the top three scores of the season to finish fourth in their first-ever Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Concordia University (Mich.) on Friday night.. The event featured three other conference programs with the Crusaders competing virtually in the MU Activities Center.

The Crusaders earned a preliminary score of 59.87 and followed with a 58.63 in the finals for a weighted total of 58.94. The Blue and Gold scored high marks for their Pom routine, their team turn sequence and their team energy.

"I felt our team had one of their best performances of the year," said Head Coach Angela Moser. "The scores didn't reflect how we feel we performed today. I'm a little heartbroken for our girls, but feel like we've made great strides this year and excited to see how we do at the NAIA Qualifier next week. "

Aquinas College (Mich.) won the event with a final score of 85.8575 with Siena Heights University (Mich.) a close second with 80.0025. The host Cardinals finished third with a final score of 62.9775.

Madonna will compete in NAIA postseason competition for the first time as they travel to Davenport, Iowa to take part in the NAIA Northeast Grouping hosted by Saint Ambrose University. The top scorer from each of the six qualifiers will receive a bid to the NAIA National Championships with six other teams earning at-large bids.
