LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Madonna University Women's Basketball team was back home at the ACCU Arena Saturday afternoon to take on Rochester University and the Crusaders came up short and fell 74-62.

HOW IT HAPPENED

April Hudelson got things started for the Crusaders as she scored the first two baskets. However, the Warriors came out hot to start the first and jumped out to a 16-6 lead. The Crusaders were able to slow Rochester down and close the gap towards the end of the first as the Warriors led 21-13 after one. 

In the second, the Crusaders bounced back and played much better basketball. As a team, they shot 56.3% from the field and 42.9% from three. Sarah Tanderys provided a huge spark, making two big threes to tie the game up 32-32 with just under two minutes left in the half. Rochester would sink a free-throw and make a layup and they would take a 35-34 lead at the break.

In the second half, Rochester started to pull away thanks to their defense, the Warriors were able to force 13 Madonna turnovers. Madonna struggled from the field as well only shooting 37% as the Warriors outscored Madonna 39-28 in the second half and Madonna fell 74-62.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

• Megan Aho led the Crusaders with 16 points, six rebounds, 11 assists, and five steals
• Sarah Tanderys made four threes on her way to 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists
• April Hudelson finished with six points and eight rebounds
• Paige Boden finished with six points, seven rebounds, and four blocks

The Crusaders will be back home on Tuesday, December 14 at the ACCU Arena to take on Spring Arbor University (Mich.) at 5:30 p.m.
