Madonna's Sharp Shooting Not Enough in Loss to Rochester

LIVONIA, Mich.-- Madonna University Men's Basketball suffered a ten-point, 97-87 loss to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) rival Rochester University (Mich.) at the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Coming off a fresh 30-point game, Jordan Graham once again was the first Crusader to score to start the game as the transfer put up the first seven points for Madonna bookended by Mark Mettie's jumper to put the home squad up 9-4 early. Eian Barker and Brendan Young then tag teamed for the next pair of Crusaders points while the Warriors took the lead with 12 minutes or so left in the half.

Devin Dunn's jump shot kept Madonna ahead as the two teams would clash and exchange leads for a total of five times in regulation. The Warriors would then pile on six points to finish the first half, going into the locker room up by seven over Madonna.

Rochester flew out of the gates after halftime, sandwiching Graham's two-pointer for a 10-2 run in favor of the red jerseys. Dunn, Young, and Ryan McMullen would keep the Warriors within range as the second half stormed on before the gym would see RU go up by as many as 15 and a 10 point lead with just under four minutes to go.

Ethan Emerzian would go on to score the final nine points for Madonna as the final LED buzzer went off in a 97-87 defeat.
