Crusaders Cruise to Three Set Win Over Rochester

ROCHESTER, Mich.-- On Wednesday night, Madonna University Volleyball secured another Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) win on the road in Garth Pleasant Arena against Rochester University (Mich.) for a 3-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Madonna cruised out to a 11-3 run in the first set with Molly Miller rattling off three-straight service aces for the Crusaders while DJ Sargent and Jaeda Porter got things started in the kill category. Back-to-back kills by Sargent and a sprinkle of points from Jamie Ciacico and Jodie Kelly lifted the Crusaders up over a nine-point lead as the Warriors attempted a comeback in the middle of the set. Just as she started the first frame, Miller ended it with a stout kill for the 25-15 win.

In the second, it was all Madonna. The Crusaders only gave up eight kills in this set, with five of them coming at the 8-5 point. Madonna then went on a 13-3 run that saw Kelly, Jordyn Dawson, and attacking error after attacking error by Rochester give Madonna the 25-8 set two win.

The Crusaders then had to fight out of a deficit in the third. With Rochester up 4-2, Kelly sparked a run that was aided by attacking errors of the Warriors. Madonna's 9-0 run in the middle of the set started by Porter effectively ended any chance Rochester had at securing a set win as Madonna would slide over at 25-12 for its 17th conference win of the year.
