HOME GAME TICKETS / MASK POLICY: All Madonna University Men's and Women's Basketball home game tickets can be purchased here in partnership with Hometown Ticketing. All visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time using the link. All visitors are required to wear masks inside the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena at all times regardless of vaccination status. Only student-athletes and coaches who are vaccinated are not required to wear masks during the frame of competition.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

LAST TIME OUT: Madonna eked out a 68-66 victory last Saturday on the road against Wilberforce University (Ohio) in the team's season opener. Mark Mettie unofficially had 14 points while Noah Campbell and Ryan Nunn tallied 13 apiece, respectively. The Crusaders shot 51.8% (29-56) from the field, 6-9 from the charity stripe. The Freshman Brendan Young showed out with 11 boards. 

BERNIE HOLOWICKI CLASSIC RETURNS: The 2021 Bernie Holowicki Classic Presented by Success Group Mortgage returns to the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena on Friday, November 5-Saturday, November 6 as it hosts four teams (Madonna, Saint Xavier, Mount Vernon Nazarene, and Lawrence Technological University (Mich.)) over two days. 

Last year, Madonna hosted Judson University (Ill.) in the abridged classic's first-ever game inside the ACCU posting a 76-67 win while LTU defeated the Eagles by the same score across town. In the event's conception in 2018-19, Madonna has never lost a Bernie Holowicki Classic game (knocks on wood). 

SCOUTING SXU: It's been eight years since the last time the Crusaders and Cougars got together with SXU leading the all time series 4-1 with the last game coming in 2013, a 91-78 loss for Madonna in Chicago. Saint X is 1-1 this year with both games coming at the Campbellsville Classic in a loss to University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and a win over host Campbellsville University (Ky.). Jack Halverson is averaging 20 points per game to lead the team with Joshua Evans and Maurice Chambers just behind with 15.5 and 14.5, respectively, in the young season.

SCOUTING MVNU: The last meeting between Madonna and the other Cougar team of the event came in a 79-59 win at home back on November 7, 2012. The all-time series is tied 1-1. The Cougars were picked seventh in the preseason Crossroads League poll with 47 points as the team has started out 3-0 this year with wins over Denison University (Ohio), Oberlin College (Ohio), and Hiram College (Ohio). 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: After one game played, Mettie is the team's leading scorer with 14, Campbell with 13, Nunn with 13, and Jordan Graham with 9. Young leads the rebound category with 11 while Ryan McMullen was a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line against Wilberforce. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

LAST TIME OUT: Madonna fell 78-70 in overtime to the No. 11 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University. The Crusaders overcame a 19 point deficit in the second half and scored a layup with 13 seconds left in the game to force overtime. Sharon Woodard led the way for the Crusaders scoring 24 points on 60% shooting. Megan Aho also had a great game with 22 points on 57% shooting to go along with seven steals.

COACH OBEY DIFFERENCE: The Crusaders are under a new head coach, Jaresha Obey, this season. Through four games the Crusaders are looking much improved compared to last year. On Tuesday night, the Crusaders overcame a 19-point deficit in the third quarter against No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan to send it to overtime. To start the season, Madonna went up against No. 25 Taylor University (Ind.) and was up 12 points after the first quarter. 

SCOUTING TCC: The last meeting between Crusaders and the Trolls was back in December of 2003 where Madonna came away with a 69-55 victory. The all-time series is 6-1 in favor of Madonna, and the Crusaders and Trolls have split the last two matchups. This season, TCC is off to a 2-1 record and has wins over No.25 Taylor (Ind.) and Cardinal Stritch (Wis.). The Trolls' leading scorer and rebounder is Gabby Kreykes, the 5'10" senior is averaging 28.0 points and 11.7 rebounds a game. 

SCOUTING TIU: The last meeting between the Crusaders and Trojans was back in December of 2017 where Madonna came away with a 63-57 victory. Madonna is leading the all-time series 2-0. The Trojans have yet to play a game this season, their first game is this Friday, Nov. 5 against Campbellsville in the Trojan Classic. The Trojans retained a big part of their team from last season in Alina Jahnke. The 6'2" senior led the Trojans in three categories averaging 13.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game last season. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Through four games, Junior, Shannon Woodard is leading the Crusaders in scoring with 14.5 ppg. Senior, Megan Aho has been a stat stuffer thus far averaging 13.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 3.5 steals per contest. Senior, April Hudelson is averaging 10.3 points and 7.3 rebounds a game. Paige Boden keeps moving up the leader board. The senior already has 10 blocks on the season and that ties her 5th all-time in career blocks with 79.
