LIVONIA, Mich.-- Madonna University's Men's Soccer team continued Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play Saturday afternoon as they were back at home for Senior Day against Aquinas College (Mich.) tying 1-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The Saints came out strong to start this first half, at the 22:42 mark a cross came into the box and an Aquinas player was able to get his head on the ball and find the back of the net to go up 1-0.

Both teams had a couple of opportunities but for the most part the match was remotely quiet until the 72nd minute. Ryota Nakajima beat his defender and dribbled into the box was taken down and the Crusaders were awarded a penalty shot. Wagner Gameiro did a slow walk up to the ball, leaped up in the air, planted his foot and buried the ball in the top left corner to tie the game 1-1. 

In overtime Madonna had the momentum in both overtime periods. In the first half, Yan Brun was able to get a good look at the net but was denied by the Saint's keeper. In the second half Gameiro and Alexander Zaleczny had two opportunities but again, Saints' keeper came away with the saves. The time eventually ran out and this one ended in a 1-1 tie.

UP NEXT 

The Crusaders will return to action this Saturday, October 27, at 4:00 p.m. as they are on the road against  University of Northwestern Ohio at Racer Stadium.
