LIVONIA, Mich. – The Madonna University Women's Lacrosse team invited the Fighting Bees from Saint Ambrose University to the Madonna Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon. The game was mostly back and forth scoring but a 6-1 goal difference over 17 minutes ultimately gave the Crusaders the 13-10 victory.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Christy Battersby got the day started for both teams as she was able to get the first goal of the game after a Saint Ambrose turnover she brought it down the field and scored. The Fighting Bees would tie that only seconds later after they controlled the draw.
  • The Crusaders controlled the ensuing draw and were aided by a foul and Battersby received the ball and was able to score her second goal of the game from five yards out. Saint Ambrose would then call a timeout.
  • The Crusaders would score again after saved free position attempt from the Bees and Courtney Hoeland would complete the clear attempt and immediately score for the 3-1 lead.
  • At the 18:41 mark Madison Kadwell got fouled in the shooting area which gave her a free position attempt that she would immediately shoot and score for the three goal lead. The Fighting Bees would respond on a rebound attempt a minute later.
  • Madison Vliek was able to find the back of the net after a Fighting Bee turnover for her first of the game. Saint Ambrose would then go on to score three goals in a row in order to tie the game with 11:24. But the tie would not last long as Brittney Leist controlled the draw and passed it out to Madeleine Caswell who assisted it to Hoeland for the lead.
  • The Bees would tie it up four minutes later, but that is when the Crusaders offense turned it on as they would go on to score six of the next seven goals, with two from Battersby, one from Leist, Hoeland, Rivera and Gettel over the next 17 minutes.
  • The Fighting Bees attempted a comeback by scoring three of the last four goals but between the Crusader defense and the put away goal from Gettel it was to much for Saint Ambrose to handle.
