LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University baseball team made a statement at Ilitch Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon as they avenged an earlier loss to Spring Arbor University 10-0 in eight innings.
It was a slow start for the offense on a cool day as Frankie Lucska scored on a double-play in the second and that was all the scoring until the fifth inning. That's when the Blue and Gold broke things open with a seven-run frame.
An error and a Noah Renaud double put runners at second and third for Kyla Aniol who singled in Nick Sykes. Joey Pejuan singled in Reed, back-to-back walks scored another before Gordon Ferguson delivered the dagger with a grand slam over the left-field fence to make it 8-0.
Alex Garbacik and Ryan Celmer drove in runs in the sixth and eighth, respectively, to run-rule the Cougars, 10-0, after falling to SAU in Florida, 9-6.
