GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The 22nd-ranked Madonna University men's basketball team led by double digits for most of the night, but had to withstand a late rally by Cornerstone University inside Mol Arena on Saturday afternoon for a tough 85-78 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory.

The teams traded baskets early before the Blue and Gold asserted themselves with a 34-12 run over 12:35 of game time to take a 20-point, 38-18, lead with 5:47 left in the half. CU had a free throw to cut the margin to two, but missed, Reynolds grabbed the rebound and Burton hit a 3-pointer to push the lead to six and the Crusaders never looked back.

The guys played with great focus and composure despite some foul trouble. We gave all we had on every possession and Dwight and Josh played like All-Americans tonight." - Head Coach Noel Emenhiser
