Dominant first half leads #4 @MUCrusaderMSOC to a 2-0 win

LIVONIA, Mich.- The Madonna University men's soccer team used a dominant first half from Breno Stapcinskas as he scored two goals. The Crusaders now improve to 2-0 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Madonna (2-0) 2, Huntington University (1-1-1) 0
  • Stapcinskas got the game started early in the 8th minute with a goal off of a free kick from about 20 yards out that rolled right through the defensive wall.
  • Minutes later in the 15th minute Bruno Castro passed the ball out to Stapcinskas and he once again scored on a strike from 20 yards out.
  • The remaining time in the first half was a back and forth battle as both teams rattled off more shots.
  • The second half was much of the same as it was mainly both teams getting their shots.
  • Goalie Joe Smith had a couple of key saves in the final minutes of regulation.
INSIDE THE BOX
  • The Crusaders are now 3-1 against the Foresters
  • Smith had another good game in goal as he recorded his second shutout of the season, he also added 8 saves to his game.
  • This was Stapcinskas' first career two-goal game for the Crusaders
  • Castro led the team with four total shots with two of those being on goal to go along with his assist.
