LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University baseball team exploded for 22 hits in their doubleheader sweep of Aquinas on Saturday at Ilitch Ballpark, claiming game one 12-7 before winning the nightcap 8-6.

The Saints tried to mount a late comeback but the Crusaders bullpen would not allow it as Ross Rickel closed the door for the final 1.1 innings of play

A two-run home run by Gordon Ferguson in the bottom of the eighth extended the Crusaders lead to 8-5

John Beuckeleare would close the door in the ninth, allowing one run but preserving the save
