KISSIMMEE, Fla.- The Madonna University baseball team scored five runs in the first three innings, but Robert Morris University - Chicago scored eight and eventually defeated the Crusaders 10-5 to drop MU to 9-10 on the season while the Eagles improve to 6-2.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Jalen Thomas started the scoring with a solo home run to left in the top of the first
- RMU used a 2-run home run and a groundout to take the lead in the bottom half, but a Joey Pejuan two-run single in the second tied the game at three as he scored Alex Garbacik and Gordon Ferguson
- Four hits and an MU error gave RMU the lead for good in the second as they plated four to make it 7-3.
- Madonna scored it's final two run sin the third on a double play and an error
WHAT DO THE NUMBERS SAY?
- Madonna was outhit 13-6; Pejuan led the offense with a 2-for-5 day with 2 RBI from the leadoff position
- Four other Crusaders tallied a hit, Thomas and Garbacik each scored a pair of runs
- MU drew five walks and struck out eight times
- Joe Wozniak pitched well in relief as he allowed two runs on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts over 5.1 innings
