TUCSON, Ariz. - The Madonna University softball team experienced both ends of run-rule contests on Monday afternoon at the Tucson Invitational Games Lincoln Park - North Complex as the offense dominated Waldorf (Iowa) 12-4 in the first game, but the defense faltered in a 13-5 loss to 24th-ranked Jamestown (N.D.) in the second game of the day.
Selena Deault drove in five runs as the offense pounded out 15 hits in game one, but a poor start to game two, nine runs in the first two innings, doomed the Crusaders to a split and a 4-2 record in Arizona.
GAME 1: Madonna 12, Warriors 4 (5 inn.)
- The Crusaders got an RBI walk from Yogi Hang in the first and a Sarah Holton plated Makayla Bassage in the second with a groundout, but four hits, an error and a passed ball gave the Warriors a 4-1 advantage in the third.

- Madonna ended the game on a walk-off base hit by Amy Clegg as she drove in Becky Giacobbi who led off the fifth with a single and stole second.
GAME 2: Madonna 5, Jimmies 13 (5 inn.)
- The first inning continued to plague the Crusaders as the Jimmies of Jamestown struck for our runs, one earned, on two hits and a pair of MU errors to begin the contest and and added five more in the second on four hits for an early 9-0 lead.
- A leadoff home run in the third added to the deficit, but the offense came to life in the bottom half as Johnson doubled home Giacobbi, Holton scored on a passed ball and Brooklyn Dolloff singled home Popko to make it 10-4.
- Popko was responsible for the fifth run as well as she doubled home Giacobbi with two outs in the fourth. Four more hits led to three runs for the Jimmies in the fifth made it an 8-run game and the offense couldn't get another run to extend the game.
