  • Second Inning

    • USF jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Crusaders responded right away with two of their own the following inning. Alex Nicholson walked, followed by singles from Jerad Dokey and Gordon Ferguson that plated the first run. A sacrifice bunt by Adrian Reed and an RBI groundout by Justin Mattson tied the game at two runs apiece.

  • Eighth Inning

    • The Blue and Gold found themselves trailing late in the game, but a Stephen Parker single and stolen base gave MU an offensive jolt. With two outs and Nicholson at the plate, he ripped a triple over the center fielders head to tie the ballgame.

  • Ninth Inning

    • Reed slapped a one out single to left field before an error by the USF second baseman put Reed at third base and Joey Pejuan at first. Parker and Lucska walked in consecutive at bats to give the Crusaders a 4-3 lead before another USF error scored the fifth run for MU.

    • John Beuckeleare once again proved his worth on the mound, shutting down the Fighting Saints in order in the bottom of the ninth.

INSIDE THE BOX

  • The Crusaders out hit the Fighting Saints 8-6 and nearly doubled the amount of walks.

  • Daniel Gore lasted five innings of work, allowing just two earned runs while striking out three USF batters.

  • Victor Mencotti appeared for 2.2 innings of relief, striking out four and walking just one in his scoreless appearance.
