@MUCrusadersWBB late comeback not enough against Grey Wolves

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Madonna Crusaders Women's Basketball team traveled across the Michigan border to Ohio to face off against the Grey Wolves of Lourdes University for another Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup. The Crusaders play hard all the way to the end but a second quarter lead was too much for the Crusaders to overcome as they dropped the contest by a score of 67-59.

The Crusaders record now sits at 2-5 overall with a 0-2 conference record, while the Grey Wolves improve to 2-6 and 1-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both teams came out shooting hot as each starting Crusader was able to get on the board as they Madonna was on top after the first quarter. Hannah Reinhold lead with four points going into the second.
  • The second quarter was all Grey Wolves as they were able to get a six point lead and were able to keep the lead for the rest of the game. Paige Boden put the Crusaders up by three, which was the biggest lead of the game for the Blue and Gold.
  • The Grey Wolves went on a 7-0 run to start the second half as they built up a 13 point, but the Crusaders started to mount their comeback as Boden, Victoria Guardiola and Naomi Davis scored to bring Madonna back into the game.
  • The Crusaders caught fire in the fourth quarter once again as Reinhold and Boden led the way in the quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • 23: Boden led the team with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and four blocks on the evening
  • 40+: The Crusaders finished with 45 rebounds including 17 offensive and 28 rebounds. While the Grey Wolves with 44 rebounds including 13 offensive and 31 defensive.
  • 37%:  The Blue and Gold shot at a 37% clip for the game
  • 5: Reinhold was second on the team with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 2 steals

  • The Crusaders will continue conference play as they return home for a match against Siena Heights on Saturday, November 23 with a 3:30 PM tipoff.
