ADRIAN, Mich. - The 15th-ranked Madonna University men's soccer team exploded for four runs in the second half to fly past Siena Heights University 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Crusaders improve to 6-1-2 on the year and 3-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Saints fall to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in league action.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• It was an evenly played first half as Madonna held a narrow 7-6 advantage in shots and each team scored a goal
• Cezar Eduardo Hister Marcante opened the scoring in the 35th minute, but the Saints netted the equalizer in the 41st
• IT was all MU in the second as four difference Crusaders scored in the final 45
• Breno Stapcinskas netted the game-winner in the 54th minute, Issei Ito scored in the 59th, Marcante added his second at the 66:05 mark and Ivan Panergo joined the scoring party 23 seconds later for the 5-1 margin

INSIDE THE BOX

• Madonna outshot Siena Heights 17-7 in the contest, 10-1 in the second half, with 10 shots on goal to SHU's one
• Nine different Crusaders attempted a shot, led by Peloso's four while Marcante and Ito each attempted three
• Joe Smith earned the win as he allowed one goal in 73-plus minutes of play
