LIVONIA, Mich.  -  The Madonna University men's soccer team returned home for a Conference match-up against the Gray Wolves from Lourdes University. The Crusaders used a late first-half goal to get and keep the lead on their way to a 2-0 victory.
With the win the Crusaders improve to 10-2-2 on the year and 7-1 in the WHAC while Lourdes falls to 5-10 overall and 3-5 in league play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• The game started with both teams playing good defense to begin the game.
• The Crusaders got on the board in the 42nd minute when Carlos Martinez Rodriguez headed in a corner kick from Bruno Piva de Castro to the far post for the 1-0 lead. 
• The only other goal in the game came from Rodrigo Castro de Siqueira as he had two touches and was able to put it into the back of the net on a cross from Fredrick Berbom.
• The Crusader defense was solid yet again as they only allowed the Gray Wolves defense to get off three total shots. On the way to another shutout for Joe Smith which is his fifth on the season.

INSIDE THE BOX

• The Crusaders are now 5-0-1 all-time against the Gray Wolves
• Madonna put eight of their 14 shots on goal in the contest while the Gray Wolves managed three shots with one on frame
• MU also had seven corner kicks to six for the away team
• Five total Crusaders each managed to get off two while Siqueira, Kyle Tinnion, and Dante White managed to get two shots on goal apiece.

• The Blue and Gold will return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they will face off against the Saints from Aquinas College around 3 PM following the women's soccer game.
