Record: MU (15-7, 8-4 WHAC), RC (11-10, 5-7 WHAC)
Location: MU Activities Center - Livonia, Mich.

LIVONIA, Mich. – Playing on Friday night due to potential weather on Saturday and at an unusual time, the Madonna University men's basketball team took awhile to settle in and it proved to be too late in an 80-74 loss to Rochester College.

The Crusaders attempted several 3-pointers early and found themselves down seven until Mark Mettie scored four straight points and KJ Sayer converted a put-back layup to cut the margin to one. A Clarke Lamb lay-in and Dwight Burton jumper capped a 10-2 MU run and gave the Blue and Gold the 17-16 lead. That was the last lead MU had as the Warriors closed the half on a 23-10 run to take a 43-26 lead into the half.

Rochester continued to hit shots and MU struggled to find an offensive rhythm as the deficit grew to 31 points midway through the half. A 10-0 run cut the hole to 20, 70-50, with 6:34 to play, but five straight points by the visitors pushed the lead to 25. A technical foul on RC seemed to turn the tide a big as it sparked MU on a 24-3 run, highlighted by a 4-point play from Joshua Reynolds, to get within four, 78-74, with seven second to play. Unfortunately, the Warriors hit a pair of free throws down the stretch to seal the outcome.
